The Horn of Africa Peace and Development Center (HAPDC) introduced the community meetings series for the Horn of Africa Diaspora community in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The first community meeting was held on August 26, 2006 at the Radisson Hotel in Dallas.
This community meeting was designed to bring together members from the Ethiopian, Somali, Eritrean and Djiboutian communities, and have a conversation about the region's problems and challenges.
Ambassador Tibor P. Nagy, former US Ambassador to Ethiopia, was the keynote speaker. Ambassador Nagy spent many years in Africa and is considered to be among the leading experts on the Horn of Africa. Ambassador Nagy shared an indepth analysis of the region's history, its current situation, and prospects for the future.
